It’s Halloween, err… Howl-O-Ween. That means it’s your last chance to
humiliate dress up your dog without people seriously judging you as a crazy person (until next year anyway).
First things first – Fido needs a costume! Never fear, if you don’t have one, you can improvise!
For you creative types, here are 13 easy DIY costumes for pets. If you really don’t have time for an arts and crafts project, I recommend taking an ACE bandage wrap and going to town, leaving plenty of space for your pup’s head and potty parts. Voila… Mummy!
Next, what are you going to wear? Most likely you already have something picked out. But, if you’re wanting to don an extra dog-friendly costume, one of my favorites is a Fairy Dog Mother! Simply wear your “dog” shirt of choice with a tutu, and accessorize with dog socks, dog treats, dog toys, etc. – get creative!
Finally, all that’s left to do is pick your dog party. You have a couple good choices in Seattle.
Brave Horse Tavern in South Lake Union is hosting the Dog and Pony Show from 4pm-6pm, featuring costume contests, prizes and more. Pups are welcome in the covered courtyard which will double as a beer garden. For more information, check out the listing here.
Belltown Pub is hosting their renowned Puppy Hour from 6:30pm-9:00pm. Costumes are highly encouraged. Leashed dogs are always welcome inside, but especially so on the last Wednesday of every month, when they roll out the astroturf (literally). For more information, check out the listing here.
Better yet, hit up both Howl-O-Ween events, and don’t miss any of the fun! If you make it out, keep an eye open for two very unhappy reindeer, and please do share your Howl-O-Ween photos with us!
